Norway's TOVA goes Mongolia

What do you get when Norway and Mongolia join forces? What do you get when felting 100% merino wool in an ecological and ethical friendly way? You get highly insulating TOVA house slippers for men, women and children. 

Norwegian TOVA - Shoes for Life, are manufactured in Mongolia from 100% eco friendly merino wool. The skin of calf or goat is used for the soles.

Mongolia, a country rich with endless plains and vast nature reserves, and with one of the worlds poorest living conditions  at the same time. TOVA produces and trades in an honest ethical - and ecological friendly way. This means that over a hundred families found their way from poverty towards a stable level of life. TOVA combines ancient handicraft with contemporary design in a responsable way, in order to contribute to a positive way of life.

Fair Trade - naturally!

Millions of people all over the world live from low (or no!) wages and in poor conditions. Ethical trade improves these conditions and their environment at the same time. As consumers we could and should be more aware of our influence on this process. TOVA has been a member of Initiativ for Etisk Handel (Initiative for Ethical Trade) since 2008. IEH is the driving force behind  fair and ethical trade.

The production of TOVA takes place in northern Mongolia, towards the Siberian border; an area with a huge unemployment rate. TOVA ensures their local employees honest wages and regular working hours. Wages and living conditions are in balance; crucial in a country with an extremely high inflation rate.

Prosperity:

TOVA has been investing in a proper production process, with employees working under good conditions throughout the seasons. They are served two free meals a day and given social insurancy.  

​

Social conditions:

Being poor makes Mongolian daily life challenging. During winter temperatures drop to a minus 40 degrees. Simply to have a job makes all the difference. With a proper job families can be taken care of, children educated and social conditions improved.

Life's a Zoo at Danish label collector Rikki Tikki Company. Known from names as CASA de LUXE by Naja Munthe and Susanne Schjerning, their latest newborn is named JUST. JUST is a young and trendy addition to a wide range of refreshing and typically Scandinavian  products. 

What's not to love about the JUST animal shaped metal hooks? They come in different shapes, colours and sizes. Let these lovely creatures show your favourite items or kitchen towels!
